The Minister of Science and Higher Education Mr. Marcin Kulasek, has appointed the Team for the Regulation of Biobanking Activities. The Medical University of Warsaw is represented by: Prof. Artur Kamiński (Department of Transplantology and Central Tissue Bank), Dr. Ilona Szabłowska-Gadomska (Laboratory for Cell Research and Application) and Iwona Góras (Scientific Projects Department).
The Team’s tasks include: analyzing the current legal framework regarding biobanking to assess whether and to what extent biobank operations require legislative intervention (taking European Union law into account); identifying specific gaps or flaws in the existing system; and—should it prove necessary—drafting legislation to regulate biobanking activities.
The Team also includes members of the BBMRI.pl consortium, which brings together eight Polish scientific institutions specializing in biobanking, including Medical University of Warsaw.
